This article captures how to record, as well as how to save a recording of something that already happened from 30 seconds to up to 20 minutes ago. This can be especially helpful in capturing footage of a bug after you see it occur.

Windows (XBox) Game Bar (Native, limited to the last 30 seconds)

  • Recording
    • All Windows PCs have this. Press Windows+G and you can record and stop at the top left at any time.
  • Recording stuff that already happened
    • At the top middle of the screen (after pressing Windows+G) there should be a gearwheel on the right, click this -> Capturing -> Select "Record in the background while playing a game"
    • Select "Shortcuts" and you can set the hotkey to do this here. So any time an issue occurs if you're not normally recording, you can select this hotkey to capture the last 30 seconds of gameplay after it has happened.

Nintendo Switch (Limited to the last 30 seconds)

  • Press and hold down the Capture Button on the left Joy-Con. (down and right from the down arrow)

    • Up to thirty seconds of gameplay prior to pressing the Capture Button will be saved.
    • The captured videos can be viewed within the Album.
      • You can upload these to a phone or PC and send them to us.

Nvidia (Only for NVidia graphics cards, up to 20 minutes)

  • Download GeForce Experience (which is also good for keeping your graphics drivers up to date) here.
    • After signing up, press the triangle with 3 dots to the left of the settings gear.
    • Turn Instant Replay off, click the Settings gearwheel, and you'll probably want to go to "Highlights" and turn that off too (optional).
    • Select "Video Capture" and set up how much you want to keep in history for instant replays. Longer means you can potentially spot a bug, then pull up details (like a quest not registering), and then save it where 30 seconds in Windows Game Bar might not allow you that extra time.
    • Go to "Keyboard Shortcuts" and set up your shortcuts to record, or save a clip, the default is Alt+F10 to record something that already happened.

AMD (Only for AMD graphics cards, up to 20 minutes)

  • Download AMD Relive software, instructions here.
  • Follow the instructions on how to enable and use the "Instant Replay" feature here.
